A Three-Lettter Word: Part II
From Series: "A Three-Letter Word"
This may be the most significant question we can pursue as individuals and as a community. Our responses to this question shape the community we create together. Sometimes our convictions about God lay silently in the soul, unexamined but nevertheless occupying. Sometimes our convictions erupt in a triggering moment, and we wonder, “Where did I get that idea?” Sometimes we participate in the grand story-telling tradition about God even as our sensibilities call us out. Truthfully, we have a three-letter word, a short hand claim to intimacy with the Divine who will always be beyond language and definition. Still, we try. For these weeks, we ask ourselves to interrogate, somewhat, “Who is this God we trust?” And we settle with ancient Israel to shape our conversation, noting that our longings haven’t changed so much.
